The Big Mountain Unofficial Ski Report

Dec. 11 (Wednesday)
Temperature: 20F
Base: 50"
Summit: 83"
New Snow: 3" overnight with 2" during the day
Method of glisse: Telemark

Today shaped up considerably compared to yesterday. There was new, dry snow everywhere to play around in. Skiing from the summit all the way down to the bottom was great except for the last 400 feet. The bottom section froze overnight, and the new snow just slid right off the bullet proof base.

Favorite run of the day goes to Marmot on the backside. Chair 7 had technical difficulty, and when it re-opened, there was fresh all over the backside. It was the type of ego boosting snow that goes well with hump day (Wednesday). The turns came together with easy to manage, boot high fresh snow.

As we left the parking lot, there were flakes falling out of the sky the size of my thumb. Very exciting to live in Northwest Montana at this time ;-)

Have a good one and we'll be talking tomorrow.

Grade for the Day---> B+

Important Note: Everyone please take it slow driving up The Big Mountain road. I saw 3 cars on the way down do a little pinball off the side drifts. (headlights....taillights....headlights...etc..)
