-I think
SinDizzy's new CD "He's Not Dead" is everything
we expected from
Tim, Oz, Bobby, and John. I think the message of Christ
is straight up
front and the music is beyond compare. From the moment I
heard a sample
of the song "He's Not Dead", I was sold on the
album. I could't wait to
hear the whole track. When I heard the final version of
the song on the
album, I was blown away! I especially like Tim's
"bass solo" during it.
Listening to the album was the first time I was able to
hear the track
"Long Way To Heaven". Again, I feel in love
with the song! It had that
long lost late 80's/early 90's sound to it that I have
missed for some
time now. I am glad they chose to include this track! All
in all, I
think the whole album is a 10, and I also hope the
message that lays
within the songs reaches some of the lost out there and
wins them over
to Christ. Great job SinDizzy!

-This is one CD that took me totally off
guard. Michael has done things
on this disc that I didn't think he was capable of doing.
Without
pressures from record companies to put out commercial
oriented material,
it is very clear that Mike was able to show us some very
diverse music
throughout.
We are treated to different vocal techniques and effects,
as well as
plenty of other sounds to listen to. ADVICE TO LISTENERS:
Listen to
this CD with a good pair to headphones and turn it loud.
You will be
amazed.
Eight of the ten tracks were lyrically written by outside
writers, which
I feel contribute to making this disc feel different than
his previous
solo efforts, as Michael Sweet usually (co)writes lyrics
for his music.
Evidently this gave him more of an opportunity to
concentrate on making
great music.
STRONG TRACKS INCLUDE:
Truth (great opening guitar riff, with Michael's vocals
as I have
NEVER heard them before!)
I Am Adam (this song has everything) Melodic verses, with
solid, heavy
chorus and a kickin' beat
Blue Bleeds Through (my favourite track) Interesting
lyrics and very
unique way to incorporate words with sounds in the
chorus.
SPECIAL MENTION:
Achilles Heel: "You find no answers in your
HEART" (oh yes, that is the
classic Stryper scream that we love to hear!!)
Overall, this is definately Michael Sweets strongest,
most complete
release that you will want to listen to time and time
again.

-It
was interesting to read the liner notes when it stated
that half the
songs were written in 1992 and the other half in 1995.
That is between
three to six years ago. The CD sounds a bit dated, but I
happen to be a
fan of eighties rock music, so in that aspect it was
different hearing
this "new CD" in 1998.
The music is "in your face" and straight to the
point. The lyrics are
mostly shallow, leaning to the repetitive side. Example:
He's not Dead
-repeated 15 times, I Gave It All To Him - repeated 23
times, and so on.
On a positive note, this band sounds very tight, and I
was very
impressed with the musicianship of Bobby MacNeil and John
Bocanegra.
STRONG TRACKS INCLUDE:
He's Not Dead: Even though repetitive, this song has a
great feel to
it. Oz showcases his vocals on this track by displaying
great range
with his voice.
Rise Above: I was hoping for a song like this on the
disc. Brings me
back to the song Fishin' Oz did on the "In The
Beginning" Stryper video.
Long Way To Heaven: If you like eighties rock and roll,
this songs for
you. Reminds me of old Helix (Canadian Band), Poison,
Quiet Riot etc.
Especially when it's just the drums and vocals.
