I was having so much fun knitting Arans that I hadn't really bothered knitting anything else. However, shawls are currently popular knitting projects, so I thought I'd try knitting one. I made the Prairie Shawl from Cheryl Oberle's new book Folk Shawls. What fun! It's a great shawl to snuggle under on those cold Montana nights. That project has led to three or four other shawls and a great interest in lace knitting. I highly recommend Cheryl's book, by the way.
The Falling Leaves Shawl was inspired by a bunch of Tahki Sable I ordered from Elann (a great online store which carries odd lots and discontinued lines of yarns). It was a lovely soft moss green color and made me think of leaves. The edging really gave me fits but the final result was well worth the agony. This is a picture of the point of the triangle, where I managed to get the leaves to come together:
There are a lot of wonderful links to shawls and lace knitting on the Web. This is a start; if you know of more, please e-mail me!
