Under the magnificent stained glass window of the ancient cathedral we stood together. Together as a team, a group, a BAND. The sun shone off our electric guitars triumphantly as echoes of our completed song reminsced in the great hall. We then knew we had the power to be the greatest rock band this or any other world had seen. That was over 49 days ago and look at us NOW!! We have the start of two new songs and are driving on with fearless ambition. But is wasn't always the close knit band we have come to be today.

At first we started out for the wrong reason- necessity. Bands must be created to have fun, and to inspire the world. Our original band (not yet called AVATAR) consisted of Jon Jolly (bass), Kevin Satterlee (vocals), Jon Troxell (toms), and two other "silent" members playing the drums and the guitar. Unfortunately (or rather fortunately in the end) this band did not get along.

Eventually JKJ (often known as the OREO team) decided it was time to move on. So after our first gig we said to each other 'hey we suck!' and decided to journey on as OREO. Well that didn't work considering Jon T. was previously borrowing our ex-drummers toms, Kevin just got a guitar and was supposed to be our guitarist, and Jon J. could sing or play bass (not both). Obviously this trek was ended very quickly because of our lack of equipment, drive, and members.

But after years (actually days) of searching for more members we found Alex, the drumming god from a nearby high school. OREO then put Alex through a series of intense tests  that included skill, personality, beauty, etc(in reality we decided we'd keep him with the first few hits of the bass drum).

Then came the summer of '97. During this summer the band was scarcely seen practicing because half the members were in other countries. But this gave us all time to practice our new instruments. (Jon J had now switched from bass guitar to lead guitar,  Kevin now played the guitar, and  Jon T. now played the bass guitar.)

Near the end of the summer we began to come together- a new band on a clear frontier waiting to be claimed!! So we got together and jammed... ... ...but there was NO SINGING!! Distressed by this climatic realization we had come to, we began searching for our vocalist. When we thought all was lost (actually only a few days of searching) we found someone. We'd never heard him sing, and to this day we still haven't. But then his girlfriend offered to sing so we said alright.

With our first gig as AVATAR only 3 days away we had to construct an entirely new song. This was a truly intense period of our lives, dealing with bonding as a band, not just friends, making a song, and trying to coerse Heather (our new vocalist) into sleeping with us. Needless to say we overcame our struggles and in the end stood erect with pride about the work we'd done, together. We then made a rough version of the song 'Black Mask.'  We rocked in a moderate sense but still needed some work.  Right now Psychoman (Jon J) was forced to move to stinkin' Montana so the band is temporarily incomplete.   But on June 10th- Psychoman is coming back to Cali! Soon all will be (e)rectified, but at least until then Psychoman has so much free time on his hands he can make this web-site the f' in' killerest one on the web!!  Yeah baby!

Always,to be continued...
