How the Kansas Board of Education’s Treatment of Evolution in Kansas Schools fogs the clear...
The following links may provide some insight for the response to the Kansas Board's recent action:
  •  Dale McFeatter's comments
  • NAS statement
  • AAAS Statement
  • WSU's Evolution Page
  • Save Our Science

  •      The chief purpose of this site is to provide an intellectually honest presentation of science, unlike such popular and highly anti-evolution web sites as the "True.Origin" Archive. Many proponents of creationism subscribe to a set of preternaturalistic and ritualistic—if not occultistic—presuppositions[1], which ipso facto disqualifies them from any claim to objectivity in examining matters concerning origins in science. Much of the material published on the "True.Origin" pages embody precisely such a pseudo-scientific bias.

The pages posted here are intended to give expression of the "only side"—to dispel the two most popular fabrications perpetuated by the likes of the "True.Origin" crowd, namely:

    1. That creationism finds significant let alone equivocal support in the data of empirical science.[2]
    2. That logically the only scientific explanation—evolution—is somehow not corroborated in the same data.[3]
The question of origins is not just a matter of historyand not the domain of organized religion. Ones pietistic-view plays heavily on ones interpretations of scientific data[4], a phenomenon which is magnified in matters concerning origins, despite where repeatability, observation, and measurement—three immutable elements of the scientific method—may be employed.[5] Many proponents of creationism nevertheless persist in claiming exclusive authoritative status for their, highly questionable beliefs, and curtly rebuking—if not angrily condemning—all unbelievers[6].

This site is one answer to such unethical, irrational—and unscientific—practices…

    Creationist's Detraction in their Answers
    Book Reviews and Bibliographies
  • Dictionary – On and off-line sources of information of the usage and meaning of words and phrases. Excellent resource to use in avoiding semantic confusion used by creationists.
  • The Bible – Any type of explanation that agrees with the literal interpretation of this book is used either as evidence for creation, or evidence against evolution. Be aware of the many versions, the content hasn't changed much in two thousand years, but its interpretation has changed significantly in the last one hundred.
  • Evolution – Any book or journal about it by the major book publishers. Instead of the creationist strawman versions of evolution, find out what an evolutionist says evolution is from an actual book written by one. New evidence is continually being discovered, so the most current book is the best source of information.
  • The World Around You – Its not a book, but it is an excellent resource to verify what you read in any book concerning  the evolution/creation controversy. Just use your senses and rationality.
  • Origin of Species – A book by a guy named Charles Darwin that gives a great detailed account of evidence for evolution.
  • Bibliographies – The best information is as much information as you can get. It would be intellectually dishonest to say that there is biased information to avoid. There is just misinformation to recognize. I recommend anything that deals with the evolution/creation controversy.

"A number of principles were established from the beginning. First, members of the Society, which include research scientists from various fields of scientific accomplishment, are committed to full belief in the [literal interpretation of the] Biblical record of creation and early history. Thus, they advocate the concept of special creation (as opposed to evolution), both of the universe and of the earth with its complexity of living forms.  All members must subscribe to the following statement ofBELIEF :
    1. The Bible is the written Word of God, and because it is inspired throughout, all its assertions are historically and scientifically true in the original autographs. To the student of nature this means that the account of origins in [the literal interpretation of] Genesis is a factual presentation of simple historical truths.

    2. All basic types of living things, including man, were made by direct creative acts of God during the Creation Week described in [the literal interpretation of] Genesis.  Whatever biological changes have occurred since Creation Week have been accomplished only changes within the original created kinds.

    3. The great flood described in Genesis, commonly referred to as the Noachian Flood, was an historic event worldwide in its extent and effect.

     4. We are an organization of Christian men and women of science who accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. The account of the special creation of Adam and Eve as one man and one woman and their subsequent fall into sin is the basis for our belief in the necessity of a Savior for all  mankind. Therefore, salvation can come only through accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior."

[From CRS web page History and Aims, Nov, 1999 (my emphasis)]

"We must accept the order of events as set forth so clearly in the [literal interpretation of the] Word of God."
[Whitcomb and Morris, The Genesis Flood, Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, 1961, p. 473 (my emphasis)]

"There is not a fact of science anywhere to keep us from believing [from our literal interpretation of scripture] that: 'By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, ... and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.... For He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast' (Psalm 33:6,9)."

"We do not know how God created, what processes He used, for God used processes which are not now operating anywhere in the natural universe. This is why we refer to Divine Creation as special creation. We cannot discover by scientific investigations anything about the creative processes used by God." [Gish, 1972, Evolution? The Fossils Say No! General Edition, p. 42]

"If the Bible is the Word of God—and it is—and if Jesus Christ is the infallible and omniscient Creator—and He is—then it must be firmly believed [from a literal interpretation] that the world and all things in it were created in six natural days and that the long geological ages of evolutionary history never really took place at all."
[Henry Morris, Scientific Creationism, Creation-Life Publishers, San Diego 1974, p. 251 (my emphasis)]

"It is more productive to take the Bible literally and then to interpret the actual facts of science within its revelatory framework."
[Henry Morris, Troubled Waters of Evolution, Creation-Life Publishers, San Diego, 1974, p. 184]

"Evolution - the fundamental organizing principle of biology - has been taught so little and so poorly that creation "science" has made inroads the scientific community wouldn't have believed possible." [Betty McCollister, Iowa Committee of Correspondence, Voices for Evolution]

"Be it further resolved that the AAAS urges citizens, educational authorities, and legislators to oppose the compulsory inclusion in science education curricula of beliefs that are not amenable to the process of scrutiny, testing, and revision that is indispensable to science." - [from the draft resolutions written by D. Allen Bromley, Edward R. Brunner, Anna J. Harrison, and Glynn Isaac. It was passed by the AAAS Board of Directors on 4 January 1982 and submitted to the Council as a proposed joint resolution of the Board and Council. It was passed by Council on 7 January, and published in Science 215:1072 on 26 February.]

"Evolution is not only universally accepted by scientists; it has also been accepted by the leaders of most of the world's major religions." [Bruce Alberts, President of National Acadamy of Sciences, August 20, 1999]

"...the main reason for insisting on the universal Flood as a fact of history and as the primary vehicle for geological interpretation is that [a literal interpretation of ] God's Word plainly teaches it!  No geologic difficulties, real or imagined, can be allowed to take precedence over the clear statements and necessary inferences of [the literal interpretation of] Scripture." [ Henry Morris, Biblical Cosmology and Modern Science, (1970) p.32-33]

"It is apparent that acceptance of creation requires and important element of faith. Yes, it is true, creationists do have faith, and that faith is vitally important."
[Duane Gish, Evolution: the fossils still say No!, Institute for Creation Research, El Cajon, 1995, p. 19]

"There is no observational fact imaginable which cannot, one way or another, be made to fit the creation model."
[Henry Morris, Scientific Creationism, Creation-Life Publishers, San Diego 1974, p. 10 (my emphasis)]

"True knowledge begins with the Bible (Proverbs 1:7, Psalms 119:160;138:2), and that is where we need to start. God was there when He created the world. He knows everything, does not tell lies, and does not make mistakes. It is from the [literal interpreation of the] Bible that we learn that the world is ‘young’.
If the Bible taught that the world was millions of years old, we would believe that. However, the concept of millions of years of death and suffering contradicts the [literal interpretation of the] Word of God, and destroys the foundation of the Gospel of Christ."
[Tas Walker, Creation Ex Nihilo 21(4):16–20, September–November 1999 (my emphasis)]

" By definition, no apparent, perceived, or claimed evidence in any field, including history and chronology, can be valid if it contradicts the [literal interpreation of] Scriptural record." [Answers in Genesis Ministries, "Statement of Faith", Part D, (vi), July 2000]

"It is impossible to devise a scientific experiment to describe the creation process, or even to ascertain whether such a process can take place."
[Henry Morris, Scientific Creationism, Creation-Life Publishers, San Diego, 1974, p. 5]

"[I]t is precisely because Biblical revelation is absolutely authoritative and perspicuous that the scientific facts, rightly interpreted, will give the same testimony as that of Scripture. There is not the slightest possibility that the facts of science can contradict the Bible."
[Henry Morris, Scientific Creationism, Creation-Life Publishers, San Diego, 1974, p. 15]

"A real understanding of origins requires, as we have repeatedly emphasized, divine revelation.  God in grace has provided this revelation, but men have refused to believe it, in effect making God a liar."

"Evolution teaches that the Bible has errors and cannot be trusted. Christians need to have their questions answered and doubts removed. Churches, seminaries and denominations need to be called back under the authority of the Book that they have been taught to doubt. That is the real message of creationism." [Morris, Acts and Facts, June 1995]
