This theory of the Seven Churches is called a Dispensational View of the Application of Chapters 2 & 3 of the book of Revelation. It is based upon the observation of Church history over the past 1900 years where the seven letters in their order of writing bear great similarity to the phases of Church history.
Although I find this quite fascinating and seeming to have real merit, it is still JUST THEORY and is neither proven nor disproven Scripturally. This should be kept in mind while reading these pages.
