Wild Horse Island Sea Kayaking and Wildflower Discovery Day
Spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing, hiking and traveling by stable,
serene sea kayaks all combine for a special day on Flathead Lake. A
morning lesson on the basics of sea kayaking and safety precautions
will be followed by a paddle to the Lake’s largest island. We will be
on a mission to search out wildflowers in this paradise. In addition
to abundant wildlife, there are other special inhabitants of this unique
island; palouse prairie grasses, bitterroot, columbine, indian
paintbrush, and thousands of arrow leaf balsamroot that give the
island a golden glow. Bring daypacks, hiking shoes, water bottles,
camera and binoculars. This class is appropriate for never ever or
experienced sea kayakers. The trip includes a gourmet lunch, high
quality paddling gear, instruction and guides.

Basic Sea Kayaking 101 
Spend an evening pool session learning capsize recovery techniques and basic paddling skills. evening session will be followed by a full day on beautiful, mountain-rimmed Flathead Lake. Learn the fundamentals touring in these stable kayaks – long distance paddling techniques, stroke development, paddling gear, packing a sea kayak and safety precautions. A scrumptious Sunday brunch, all paddling equipment, guides, instruction and a super good time are included. A word of caution – sea kayaking is very addictive.

W.O.W. (Women on Water)
Spend a relaxing and energizing day learning a new activity – sea
kayaking. Paddling gently works the upper body and waistline into
shape while at the same time allowing the paddler to intimately
enjoy Flathead Lake’s beauty, serenity and wildlife. A word of
caution, sea kayaking is very addictive. Suitable for all ages and
abilities. Never ever sea kayakers are encouraged to come give it a
try. Includes all high-quality paddling equipment, guides, instruction,
a supportive atmosphere, great brunch and a super good time.

Stories, Serenades, and Sea Kayaks on the Upper Missouri
River
The “Wild & Scenic” Upper Missouri River will be the setting for a
floating classroom on this five-day tour of rediscovery. Time will be
spent paddling, hiking, trail riding, dining on gourmet meals and relaxing
by campfire in the White Cliffs area. Jack Gladstone, Montana
Blackfeet Indian recording artist will be accompanying us. Through
campfire stories, songs and oratory, Gladstone will guide paddlers
through the cultural odyssey of this historical significant and beautiful
area. This trip could be one of life’s most rewarding and memorable
experiences. Fees, permits, river shuttle, highest quality sea kayaks
and paddling gear, dinners and breakfasts, guides and instruction are
provided. If you withdraw after 5/13, $200 of tuition is non-refundable.
Wednesday session will be held at the Watersite Outpost.

Sea Kayaking Adventure Kamp
Join us on this solstice retreat to learn about the wonderful, wet
world of sea kayaking with the goal of visiting as many of the Flathead Lake marine trail parks as possible. This camp will include instruction on: solo and assisted rescues and capsize recovery techniques; braces, draw strokes, and other advanced techniques; a powerful forward stroke; a Greenland paddling skills demonstration; navigation for small boats; and
other skills needed to be comfortable and safe whether paddling in a pond or on an expedition. The Eskimo Roll will be emphasized. A special skills event will top off the summer solstice weekend. This comprehensive course’s classroom will be beautiful Flathead Lake. Paddlers at all levels will be accommodated: never-ever to advanced kayakers. Included are gourmet feasts in the evenings, breakfasts, Sunday brunch, camping at Flathead Lake’s marine sites, all instruction and guides, video and slide show, all high quality paddling gear and a super good time!

Kid’s Sea Kayaking Adventure Kamp
(Ages 8-12)
Discover the wonderful world of sea kayaking! This weeklong day camp will cover sea kayaking strokes, capsize recoveries, compass and navigation skills, outdoor cooking and safety techniques. A special skills
event will top off this fun week of paddling, and big kids (i.e. parents) are
invited to observe or participate. This comprehensive course’s classroom will be beautiful lakes in the surrounding Flathead Valley. Paddlers at
all levels will be accommodated, challenged and entertained. Includes instruction, guides, high quality paddling gear, van transportation from the College, and a super good time!
June 27-July 1 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. $264

Wild Horse Island Sea Kayaking Series
Spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing, hiking, and traveling by stable,
serene sea kayak: what a way to spend a summer day! A morning
lesson on the basics of sea kayak instruction and safety precautions
will be followed by a paddle to Flathead Lake’s largest island. There
we will hike and explore the island that is known for its abundant
wildlife and beauty. Bighorn sheep, mule deer, bald eagles, coyote,
and an occasional black bear are some of the inhabitants oftentimes
encountered. Daypacks, water bottles, camera, binoculars, hiking
shoes, and shoes that will get wet kayaking are some of the things
you’ll want to bring along. The class is appropriate for never ever or
experienced sea kayakers and includes a gourmet lunch. All very
high-quality paddling gear is included.

A Native American Viewpoint
Wild Horse Island and its surrounding area has rich tribal history.
This unrivaled setting is perfect for learning about the area
through songs and legends from a Native American.

The Wild Side of Wild Horse
Join a wildlife biologist for this workshop to learn about the wild
inhabitants of Wild Horse Island’s unique ecosystem. Although
on an island, some of the inhabitants may not really be marooned
there after all.
