Spring Fling Dance to feature live
music By: KORY SUTHERLAND The end of the year is coming up, and with only about a month left of school, students from every class are having a tough time keeping the beat But on Saturday, May 13th, student council is giving everyone a reason to "keep on dancin'!" That reason is the FHS Spring Fling Dance. The dance will take place May 13th from 8:00-11:00 PM, will feature live music 9:00-10:00. "This is a new thing we're doing for the end of the year," commented senior Michael Greig. "We're trying to start kind of a new tradition." Along with the live music, a mixed 'hand-picked' selection of tunes burned onto a few CD-R's will provide the music before and after the band plays. The purpose behind the Spring Fling Dance is to give the school a 'last hurrah' before the end of the year. "We wanted the end of the year to go out with a bang," said Greig "and at the same time be able to give something back to the school from student council." While the dance, music, and fun are free, the food isn't. Money earned through concession sales is going into a fund to help build the FHS Student Center. Nachos, hot dogs, and also pizza will be among a few of the things sold. "Members of the steering committee for the Student Center will be running the food concessions," said Nancy Rose, "It's amazing to see how involved students are getting to raise money for it!" Flathead's own Royal Rangers, who recently won the Battle of the Bands competition May 21st in Butte, will be staging a 1-hour set in Senior Square. "We'll probably play about 10 to 12 songs, depending on how crazy we get up stage." said junior J.T. Baker. "We always like to put on a little show for the kiddies too." "It's going to be a lot of fun," said sophomore Zack Fawcet. "Everybody should come and check it out." |
