Old Tradition Takes New Form
By Jim Bennett Arrow Staff It is a symbol of local pride and a hub of activity for sophomore initiation. It is the F Hill. And, on Sept 30, it was the job of FFA to paint it.
Painting the hill used to be a labor that the seniors would give to incoming freshman. The seniors would make them run there, do their work, and run back to school. But seeing those freshmen running up the hill was not exactly the tradition most would like to have seen passed on. So, FFA came up with a new tradition. Students in Vocational Technology classes are automatically enrolled in FFA. Dues are paid, and those students can then participate in all FFA events, such as this particular community service project. Our chapter has been painting it (the F Hill) for three years, said senior Jamie Fosberry. It's a great effort to better the community. When the FFA repainted the F Hill, they also picked all the weeds around the area and replaced all lost rocks.
