James Bonds World is More Than Enough By: Scott Bennett ARROW STAFF
Danger. Intrigue. International disaster. Sex, sex, sex. James Bond films utilize all these elements and more, sending it skyrocketing in popularity since the introduction of Dr. No in 1962. The latest film in the James Bond series, The World is Not Enough is the 19 official installment in a long line of films. To commemorate the release of the newest film in this series, The World is Not Enough, The Arrow brings you a history of James Bond. The Good Goldfinger - 1964 - Bond is stop a power hungry tycoon from claiming the wealth of Fort Knox for his own, and thus throwing international currency and trade into a tailspin. Featuring the classic Oddjob, a large, hat-throwing brute, whose only dialogue is Ah-ah! The Spy Who Loved Me - 1977 - In a classic Bond film, 007 teams up with Russian agent Anya Amasova to recover abducted US and Soviet submarines. This movie has all the elements of a great Bond film: exotic scenery, suspense, powerful inventions, an unforgettable henchman (the immense, steel-toothed Jaws), and, of course, beautiful women. The Bad and the Ugly On Her Majesty's Secret Service - 1969 - Starring the hideous George Lazenby this movie holds a special place in the Hall of Shame as far as James Bond films are concerned. Arguably the worst film in the series, a product of bad acting on the part of Lazenby and the marriage of James Bond. At one point, Lazenby even wears a crushed velvet costume that looks strikingly similar to that of Austin Powers. 0 Lifestyles of the Rich and Totals in all Bond films, with the exception of the two latest ones: Bond orders 24 Vodka Martinis (shaken, not stirred) Bond visits 35 countries Bond is told he will die 32 times Bond has had officially 55 Bond Girls: 27 Brunettes 24 Blondes 4 Redheads James Bond has sex 76 times: 18 times in his hotel room, twice in his London flat, 14 times at her place, once at someone else's place, three times on trains, twice in a barn, twice in forest, once in space, twice in a gypsy tent, twice in hospitals, twice in planes, once in a submarine, once in a car, once on a motorized iceberg, and an astounding 24 times in, around, under, or by water. |
