At a meeting Monday, the District 5 school board placed Superintendent Alan Hafer on administrative leave effective immediately. Administrative leave doesn’t allow Hafer to report to work, although he retains all duties of superintendant and is still paid, according to District 5 business manager Todd Watkins. Lawyers will now speak for both parties in the matter although Hafer can still communicate with the board, according to Watkins. “This matter is now out of the board’s hands,” said Watkins. “It’s now in the hands of the lawyers.” The board placed all matters in the hands of the Gough/Shanahan/Johnson/Waterman law firm in Helena. Watkins wouldn’t comment on the time needed to resolve the matter. |
