Veteran teachers announce retirement at meeting On March 3, biology teacher Bing Holling, math teacher Jack Bradford and physics and chemistry teacher Gary Freebury, all with more than 25 years of teaching in District 5, announced their retirement at a school board meeting. For the teachers, there was no specific reason to retire, but all felt it was time to go. |

School board, teachers union far away on new contract With budgets stretched in School District 5 and the current teachers contract in its final year, members of the teachers’ union met with representatives of the school board March 3 and 10 to work out a new labor contract for the 1998-99 and 1999-00 school years. And while little was settled by both parties, one thing was agreed to by all: the negotiations will not be concluded in the near future. |

FHS may have four administrators next year In an attempt to meet state averages, FHS may hire a new administrator for the 1998-99 school year. The school district’s budget presentation last month introduced a proposal for a new vice principal, a proposal that according to District 5 Superintendent Alan Hafer would give FHS the average amount of administrators for AA schools in Montana. |
