S.T.A.N.D. students bond at Teen Camp ë97

By Jon Black

Busy last weekend? Students from FHS spent Dec. 12-14  at Teen Camp, a two-day experience sponsored by C.A.R.E.. Students went snowshoeing, learned line-dancing and participated in activities such as workshops to help them better understand themselves and each other.

ìIt seemed like there were fewer people this year, even though there were just as many,î said senior Leslie DeBaldo. ìWe got to do so much more together.î

Junior Ellie Stebbins believes the best part of the weekend was upholding the ideals of S.T.A.N.D. ó teens finding alternatives to using illegal substances.

ìI liked spending time with people that have the same views about drugs and alcoholism,î said Stebbins.

On Saturday, activities included snowshoeing on Blacktail Mountain, workshops and line dancing.

ìWe learned how to do the ëtush push,íî said Debaldo.

Students believed they received a lot of benefits from the weekend.

ìI had a lot of fun,î said sophomore Jake Christofferson. ìIn the small groups, we really got to open up and not be shy.î

ìIt was a great time,î said senior Joe Liechty. ìThe whole group was really open and positive.î
