On Dec. 2, Nancy Roseís mythology classes went to St. Ignatius and Pablo to see the sights they had studied only in the classroom. ìThe church and paintings were neat,î said junior Tiffany Ricks. ìWe learned different facts about the church.î The mythology studied the Flathead Reservation and Salish-Kootenai history before the trip. The group had self-guided tours at the St. Ignatius Church and museum, and then two native-guided tours at the Peopleís Center. ìWe learned about the differences of womenís and menís dancing,î said senior Victor Sheifer. ìI thought it was pretty cool.î Moving outside the classroom brought life to the lessons, said Rose. ìThey saw a film before they went, Place of Falling Waters,î said Rose. ìI think seeing the real life people and places was a real eye-opener.î |
