Choir brings CD to public |
By Kathy Domgard |
Voices of current and former concert choir students bring to life performances of the past seven years in a CD that will be released to the public next week. “Every year we make a choir tape, but not a CD,” said FHS choir director Kevin Allen-Schmid. “We have included recordings from (the last) seven years, starting with the choir of 1991-92.” The making of the choir CD, which includes music from throughout the world, was possible through an anonymous donation to the choir department, according to Allen-Schmid. “I wasn’t willing to use the tax-payers’ money on a gamble with the CD,” said Allen-Schmid. “The donation, however, enabled us to do this project.” Choir students are proud of the CD and are extremely excited about the release of the project. “It’s neat to say that I helped make a CD,” said senior Joel Fetveit, who is a soloist on the CD. “It’s also neat to be able to say that I have a CD out.” Although some people look upon choir as a mere elective, students involved with the CD see it in a different light. “Singing is a part of your soul that will stay with you always and no one can take it away,” said senior Carrie Czajkowski, a soloist on the CD. “Choir is like a big famil. Everyone helps each other, so it was a great experience to make the CD.” |
