Soccer teams kick off to perfect starts

The Braves and Bravettes soccer teams both were winners last Saturday against Stevensville, improving to 4-0 marks for the season.

The Braves won 1-0 and the Bravettes followed with a 8-0 shutout of their own.

The Braves and Bravettes opened the season in Missoula, playing Sentinel on Sept. 7. The Braves battled past the Spartans 1-0; the Bravettes won 4-0.

Then, Flathead played Whitefish, where the Braves and Bravettes both won 6-0.

Next, the teams played in Columbia Falls, where the Braves won 8-0 and the Bravettes tallied a 6-0 shutout.

The Braves want to win their third straight title.

"I feel we'll have a stronger team than last year because of upcoming talent and a harder work ethic," said senior co-captain Adam deYong.

Also starting the season 4-0, the Bravettes scored 24 goals in their first four games.

The Bravettes hope to continue their success this year.

"The game against Sentinel was a great way to start the season," said senior Mandy Strong. "I think this is our year."

The teams' next games are Saturday against Missoula Hellgate at the Airport Fields.
