Vo-prep bettering the school-and the environment
Since school started, one of the busiest classes on campus has been Sue Corrigan's fifth period
vocational preparation class, but Corrigan didn't plan it that way.
Last year FHS saw the creation of a complete recycling program by the special education
program, a project that put students' hearts and hands into making FHS a less wasteful campus
and community.
Picture the Bob Marshall in the summer: Gurgling brooks, towering peaks and amazing wildlife.
Now imagine all this from an ariel view.
This may seem like a dream to most, but on July 19, junior Rob Brist, seniors Nick Leuhr and
Ray Leonhardt, and graduates Anna Weaver, Christina Roberts and Kirt Pederson entered the
Bob Marshall from above, enjoying one of the most coveted views of the Bob.
Imagine jumping out of a plane and speeding toward the ground at up to 120 mph, with only thin
strips of material to stop you from plummeting face-first into the earth.
What was the first thing students noticed when walking into school on the first day? For some it
wasn't the faces of the new students - instead, it was the new faces of the pop machines.
With frustration comparable to the rush hour traffic of Highway 93's construction zones, students
of Flathead High School must prepare daily to embark on that ever-so-treacherous journey
through the dreaded "senior hall."
With his trim and athletic build, English teacher David Colburn may not seem a natural candidate
to play Santa Claus. But in the past year, he's learned to adapt to a lot of new roles.
During his stay in Japan during the 1995-96 school year, Colburn was exposed to a variety of
activities, from running in races to watching sumo wrestling to singing karaoke to directing a
symphony orchestra.
Remember the sadness when a freak accident killed actor Brandon Lee? Naturally when that
movie hit the theaters, the droves of somber fans (who previously couldn't name another Lee
movie) went to see it just for Brandon?
The Crow, which before Lee's death was destined to be a B-movie that by 1996 would have been
long forgotten, instead went on the course to a quickie sequel. The Crow: City of Angels has hit
theaters, but this bird just doesn't fly.
