The new computers in the writing center and the applying technology lab this year will not only keep students, but also teachers, updated with new technology.
"We needed to update to the current equipment so that when (students) go to college and out into the work field, (they) will know what (they are) working with," said applying tech. teacher Todd Morstein.
There were problems this summer in setting up the writing center and applying technology lab.
"The computers were received only three days before school started," explained applying tech teacher Grady Bennett. "Mr. Morstein and I did all of the wiring. We didn't have time to finish, and on sophomore day there were wires hanging everywhere."
Although the applying technology computers are not yet fully networked, they will soon all have internet access.
"As the course develops, there will be more opportunities for other classes to come into the lab as they do the writing center," said Bennett.
The writing center and applying technology lab developments cost the school district $90,000, but students claim they are worth the money.
"We needed them (new computers)," junior Holly Schwenk said. "Now we don't have to pound
on the side to make them work."
