The Braves lost two conference games before beating the Libby Loggers, 51-35, Feb. 10. The losses included a close 50-46 loss to Big Sky at home Feb. 6, and then a blow out in Missoula by the Sentinel Spartans 54-36, on Feb. 7 .
The Braves lost Feb. 6 to Big Sky despite the much-improved play of junior Toby Winters, who finished the game with a team high of 12 points. Winters also led the team in scoring against Sentinel with 10 points.
"I just rose my level on defense," said Winters of his improved play. "If you play good defense your offense will eventually come around."
The Braves continued to fall apart in the second quarter against Sentinel, allowing the Spartans to go on a 20-2 scoring run.
"We played the worst quarter of the year," said senior Eric Rich. "We had way too many defensive breakdowns."
The Braves beat the Loggers on Feb. 10 in a make-up game, riding the sucess of seniors Chad Wassink and Eric Rich, and junior T.J. Johnson. Wassink led the scoring with 12, followed by Rich and Johnson, who each scored 11.
Coach Joe Antonietti said of his goals for the home stretch of the season.
"Our goal is just to get better this week and get ready for the playoffs."
