Braves football works
toward playoff games
Television cameras zoomed in on Lex Hilliard as
he scored three touchdowns Thursday Sept. 21. The game was televised statewide, over Kalispells local station KCFW. The Braves made the most of thier temporary fame, coming out on top 28-14 over Helena High. "It (scoring a touchdown) felt pretty good, but our line was a pretty big part of it because they gave a lot of protection to the quarterback to get the ball off," said Hilliard, a junior. After losing two out of three games, the Braves proved they still have what it takes to win. Everything finally clicked for the Braves. "It (winning) was great relief," said senior Steve Symington. "Weve come into the season unsure of our playing ability, because most of the team has never played AA varsity. The win (Sept. 21) reassured us of what we are capable of." Flathead and Helena High were tied with a 14-14 score early in the third quarter when Zach Lindsay scored a touchdown to take the score to 21-14. "I wanted to score at least one defensive touchdown while playing high school football and I got it done last night," said Lindsay. Now that the Braves have reassured themselves that they can still win, they have high hopes for playoffs. "Well have to win all of our games from here on out to make it to playoffs," said Steven Hodge. The Braves biggest challenge is sure to be Helena Capital, but if the team works together, players say theyll have a good chance of winning. |
