Senior Matt Bain gets a pep talk from Flathead's coach Servantes.

Through sheer talent and a little statistical luck the Flathead Braves landed a spot this weekend in the state football playoffs as the third seed.

"We were excited when we found out that we were going to the playoffs," said Applegate. "Our goal all season has been to go to the playoffs. I am very happy for the kids because we have had an up and down season."

Friday, Nov. 10, the Braves will be in Billings to take on the Billings West Golden Bears, marking the third year in a row the two teams have met in the first-round of the state playoffs. A win for the Braves against Billings would mean a berth in the state championship game on Nov. 17.

"In order to win our game against Billings West we have to go down to Billings with confidence and get on the road and play well," said Applegate. "The offense, defense and the special teams all need to play their best."
