| Justin
(left) and Colter (right) Smith find playing together has brought
them closer. |
A dynamic duo has come
to Flathead High and they are unstoppable. The Smith brothers, junior
Justin and freshman Colter are finally able to pair up and play for the
Flathead Braves varsity basketball team.
How long have you been playing basketball?
J: I have been playing basketball since second grade- 10 years.
C: I have been playing basketball since I was six years old.
Have you played on the same team before this year?
J: Yeah, we played on the same team from when I was in second to fourth
grade.
C: Yes, my dad coached two or three tournaments during the summer of first,
second, and third grade.
Have you inspired each other and how?
J: Yeah I guess. We can compete against each other during the summer so
that makes it easy to stay motivated.
C: We want to be better than each other. We've inspired each other to
get better.
What has it been like being brothers and playing on the same team. Is
it hard or easy being on the same team?
J: It has been cool because I'm used to playing with him and we know how
each other play and we watch out for each other. It easy to play on the
same team because we have played on the same team before.
C: It's a good time to get to go home and talk about it (games and the
team).
Do you have pressure to do well?
J: Yeah I have a little bit of pressure from family but we both pressure
ourselves more than the outside supporters do.
C: There are a lot of pressures from friends. They expect a lot. My dad
doesn't pressure us and the community supports us and wants us to do well.
What other sports do you participate in?
J: I participate in golf, and basketball. I used to be in football.
C: Football, track, and for fun I play golf and baseball.
What made you decide that basketball is your thing?
J: I was good at basketball when I was younger so I have played it a lot.
I also have always enjoyed playing basketball.
C: I used to play with my brother when he was in third grade. I knew that
I could play with my older brother and still do well.
