How did he feel with the news that he was a semi-finalist?

"I was pleasantly surprised," says Palchak. "I was excited at the possibilities".

Senior Lauren Casey is also, at the moment, undecided on what college she would like to attend.

"I want to go for some kind of engineering, definitely something in science", says Casey. "I’ve always found math and science interesting and it comes more natural to me."

"I was pretty surprised, I’m really excited, I think it’s going to help a lot with colleges and to getting scholarships and getting into school.
