Miss Dove is easy to love
   NIC BALDING - Arrow Staff

There are teachers who teach, and there are teachers who actually educate. The ones who educate. Miss Dove, is an educator.playcolor.gif (35375 bytes)

The first all-school theatrical production this year is Good Morning Miss Dove, by William McCleery. This intriguing production is based on a novel by Frances Gray Patton.

The story takes place in a small town called Liberty Hill. In this town lives the harsh yet respected teacher Miss Dove.

Senior Ashley Guy plays Miss Dove.

"Its fun playing Miss Dove because of her wide range of personalities," says Guy.

Miss dove raises some of the locals’ eyebrows when she is exceedingly harsh with one of her students, George Bradley. The ones most angered by this severe treatment are George’s parents.

Mister and Misses Bradley are played by seniors Ture Carlson and Kaitlyn Buffington.

Carlson had this to say about his character: "I like my character because he is trying to control Mrs. Bradley."

Buffington has a very similar perspective on her character.

"I like my character because she gets to push people around. I don’t take any guff from anyone!"

George Bradley resembles one of Miss Dove’s childhood sweethearts, who she lost in her school days. In turn, Miss Dove is trying to make sure george doesn’t end up like her lost love.

This cast, unlike casts in the past, is full of new faces. The cast that once graced the Black Box Theater’s stage has moved on, and been replaced by a new generation of players.

Good Morning Miss Dove is will be showing on Oct. 20, 21, 23, and 26 in the Black Box Theater. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the FHS office and Herberger’s.
