Policemen's Christmas dinner stolen

   A locally supplied Christmas dinner of turkey and ham, for 500 policemen in Rio de Janeiro state was stolen last week. The truck carrying the food was hijacked on the way to the small town of Itaperuna. Although the relatives of the policemen were justifiably disgruntled, their discontent soon subsided. A new truck had left Rio de Janeiro city on its way to deliver the food and drink.

Long life, longer party

   Southeast London resident Bob Talley was getting ready to celebrate his birthday, but this one was different. He had just turned 100. After reading a congratulatory telegram from Queen Elizabeth, Talley muttered that he had finally made it, and died.
Family, friends, and staff at the rest home he was in did not let his death affect their party, though. The group danced and celebrated as he lay dead in his bed, a British newspaper reported.

Safe Air hits some turbulence

   Safe Air, a Pakistani air carrier, had its service suspended last week by the Civil Aviation Authority. The CAA cited major infractions in safety and maintenance standards as the major reasons for revoking Safe Air's flight status. A representative for the CAA stated that the airline might be able to restore themselves back to flight status in a matter of months. Safe Air runs 5 domestic routes in Pakistan.

Spot returns to his birthplace

   When George W.. Bush is inaugurated in January, not only will he be the first son of a past president, but his dog Spot will be the first dog to occupy a place in the White House, after being born there. You see, Spot is a pup of Millie, George Bush's dog during his term in the early 1990s. After being born there, Spot was given to G. W. Bush. In addition to Spot, the Bush's also have 3 other dogs and 2 cats.
